{"id":13468,"date":"2026-09-01T13:57:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T13:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/?post_type=knowledgebase&#038;p=13468"},"modified":"2026-10-06T07:05:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T07:05:38","slug":"offline-activation","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/offline-activation\/","title":{"rendered":"Offline Activation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this article, we will walk you through activating Modern Events Calendar on servers that cannot reach our licensing server, or when you bought your copy through a reseller and do not have a purchase code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_Needs_Offline_Activation\"><\/span>Who Needs Offline Activation?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most users should activate MEC with their purchase code as described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/activation\/\">Activation<\/a> article. Offline activation is designed for two situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your server has no outbound internet connection (firewalled, air-gapped or intranet-only hosting), so MEC cannot verify a purchase code online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You purchased MEC through a reseller and did not receive a purchase code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An offline activation token is a signed, one-site key that our support team mints specifically for your website address. It unlocks the Pro features on that exact site for a limited period, without any connection to our servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_1_%E2%80%94_Copy_Your_Site_Address\"><\/span>Step 1 \u2014 Copy Your Site Address<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An offline token only works on the exact site address it was issued for. To make sure we mint the token for the right one, MEC shows your site address on the license box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to <strong>WordPress Dashboard &gt; MEC &gt; Dashboard<\/strong> and scroll to the offline activation box (below the license form). You will see:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Include this site address when you contact support: <code>yourdomain.com<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click the <strong>Copy<\/strong> button next to it. If your domain looks different from what you type in the browser (a subdomain, a path, or a stray www), always send us the address exactly as MEC shows it \u2014 a token minted for the wrong address will be refused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"496\" src=\"https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/activation-n-02-1024x496.jpg\" alt=\"MEC License Activation form with purchase code field and offline activation token option\" class=\"wp-image-13551\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/activation-n-02-1024x496.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/activation-n-02-300x145.jpg 300w, https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/activation-n-02-766x371.jpg 766w, https:\/\/webnus.net\/dox\/modern-events-calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/activation-n-02.jpg 1072w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_2_%E2%80%94_Contact_Support\"><\/span>Step 2 \u2014 Contact Support<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click the <strong>Contact support<\/strong> button in the same box, or visit webnus.net\/support, and open a ticket that includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The copied site address from Step 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of purchase (your order number, license, invoice or reseller receipt).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our team will verify your purchase and reply with your offline activation token.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_%E2%80%94_Activate_Offline\"><\/span>Step 3 \u2014 Activate Offline<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back on <strong>WordPress Dashboard &gt; MEC &gt; Dashboard<\/strong>, paste the token into the field under <em>Paste your offline activation token here<\/em> and click <strong>Activate offline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the token is valid and was minted for this exact site address, MEC activates immediately and the Pro features become available. While you are running on a token:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The dashboard shows a notice with your token&#8217;s exact expiry date: <em>&#8220;License activated. This offline token is valid until {date}. Activate your purchase code before then to keep Pro running.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The purchase code field displays the hint <em>&#8220;Activated via offline token. This switches the site to a normal online license, which renews automatically and never needs a new token.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you received your token because your server has no outbound connection but the connection is restored later, simply activate with your purchase code, nothing else changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Renewing_an_Offline_Token\"><\/span>Renewing an Offline Token<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your server still cannot reach our licensing server when the token is about to expire, contact support before the expiry date and ask for a renewal. Please plan ahead: <strong>each license can hold one active offline token and can renew it up to two times<\/strong>. After both renewals are used, a fresh token requires a new purchase or a manual exception from our team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"After_the_Token_Expires\"><\/span>After the Token Expires<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once an offline token expires, the Pro-only features stop working until the site is licensed again:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saving an event will not persist Pro-only data (booking options, tickets, fees, booking form fields, hourly schedule, event data, gallery, notifications, etc.), and MEC shows an admin notice naming exactly which features were not saved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A non-dismissible notice on the dashboard reminds you to license the site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your events and bookings are never deleted. To restore the Pro features, activate with a valid purchase code, or ask support to mint a fresh token.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FAQ\"><\/span>FAQ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Can_I_use_one_token_on_two_websites\"><\/span>Can I use one token on two websites?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No. A token is signed for one exact site address and is refused everywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"I_pasted_the_token_but_activation_failed\"><\/span>I pasted the token but activation failed.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Compare the site address shown in the Offline Activation box with the one you sent to support. If they differ, reply to your ticket and ask for a token minted for the address MEC displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"I_lost_my_token_Do_I_have_to_start_over\"><\/span>I lost my token. Do I have to start over?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No. Reply to your original ticket (or open a new one mentioning your order number) and ask us to re-send or re-issue the token for the same site address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_many_times_can_I_renew_my_offline_token\"><\/span>How many times can I renew my offline token?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each license can renew its offline token twice. The counter applies to the license, not to the domain \u2014 moving the token to a different address does not reset it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Does_MEC_phone_home_while_I_am_on_an_offline_token\"><\/span>Does MEC phone home while I am on an offline token?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MEC periodically retries reaching the licensing server.
