This guide explains how to create a Google Calendar API Key<\/strong> using the current Google Cloud Console interface<\/strong> and connect it to Modern Events Calendar (MEC)<\/strong>.
No prior experience with Google APIs is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Step 1: Sign in to Google Cloud Console<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Open the Google Cloud Console:
    https:\/\/console.cloud.google.com\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Sign in using your Google account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If this is your first time using Google Cloud, Google may ask you to accept terms of service or select a country. Complete those steps before continuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/span>Step 2: Create or Select a Project<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    All Google APIs must belong to a project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. At the top of the console, click Select a project<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. If you already have a project, select it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. If not, click New Project<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Enter a Project name<\/strong> (any name is fine).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Click Create<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Make sure the newly created project is selected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Every API key, permission, and setting you create will belong to this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        <\/span>Step 3: Enable Google Calendar API<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        The API must be explicitly enabled before it can be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Open the main menu (\u2630).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. Go to APIs & Services \u2192 Library<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. In the search box, type Google Calendar API<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. Click on Google Calendar API<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              1. Click Enable<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Without this step, the API key will not work even if it is created successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                <\/span>Step 4: Create and Configure API Key<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                In this step, you will create the API key that MEC uses to communicate with Google Calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Google now combines creating the API key and applying restrictions into a single step<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                1. Go to APIs & Services \u2192 Credentials<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
