Check the values below before you buy hosting or import a ready-made website. Most import and editor problems we see in support come from a low memory limit or a short execution time.

Minimum and Recommended Versions

Item

Minimum

Recommended

WordPress

6.8

Latest version

PHP

7.4

8.3 or newer

MySQL

5.6

8.0 or newer

MariaDB

10.5

10.11 or newer

PHP memory limit (WP_MEMORY_LIMIT)

256 MB

512 MB

HTTPS

Not required

Valid SSL certificate on the whole site

The minimums come from Elementor, which Kata needs for its widgets and builders. The recommended PHP and database versions are the ones WordPress.org recommends. Your host can tell you which versions your server uses, or you can check them in Tools > Site Health > Info > Server.

PHP Settings for Importing Ready-Made Websites

Importing a ready-made website downloads images and creates many pages at once. These values give the importer enough room to finish:

Setting

Recommended value

What it controls

max_execution_time

300

How many seconds a PHP script can run. Many hosting control panels (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin) have a PHP settings page, which is the safest place to edit them. If you have file access, you can use one of these methods instead.

php.ini or .user.ini (most hosts):

max_execution_time = 300
max_input_time = 300
upload_max_filesize = 64M
post_max_size = 128M
max_input_vars = 3000
memory_limit = 512M

.htaccess (only on Apache servers running PHP as an Apache module; on other setups these lines cause a 500 error, so remove them if that happens):

php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 300
php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 128M
php_value max_input_vars 3000

wp-config.php, to raise WordPress’s own memory limit. Add this line above
/* That's all, stop editing! */
:

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

WordPress cannot use more memory than your server allows, so if the new limit does not show in Site Health, ask your host to raise PHP’s
memory_limit
as well.

Check Your Settings

After making changes, open Tools > Site Health > Info and expand Server and WordPress Constants to confirm the new values. If an import still fails, contact Webnus support with a screenshot of that page.

Kata runs on top of Elementor, so your server has to meet Elementor’s requirements as well as WordPress’s.
