Kata is a free multipurpose WordPress theme built around Elementor. It adds its own builders, a visual style editor called Styler and a library of ready-made websites, so you can build a complete site without writing code. The theme works together with the free Kata Plus plugin, which adds the widgets and builders, and with Kata Plus Pro if you have a Kata Pro license.

You can build a full website with the free version. Kata Pro adds more widgets, more ready-made websites and the builders for the rest of your WordPress templates.

Fast Mode
Fast Mode is a setup wizard for beginners. You answer a few questions about your website and Kata creates the pages for you, which you can then edit in Elementor. It is available in both Free and Pro. See Fast Mode for a walkthrough.
Ready-Made Websites
If you prefer to start from a finished design, import one of the ready-made websites and replace the content with your own. Each one includes its pages, header, footer and styles. You can preview all of them on the Kata demos page before importing, then follow the Demo Importer guide.
Styler
Styler is Kata’s visual CSS editor. It lets you change almost any style of an element, such as colors, typography, spacing, borders, shadows, transforms, filters and hover states, and see the result live. You can set different styles for each device, and Styler adds three breakpoints to Elementor’s defaults: Laptop, Tablet Landscape and Small Mobile. Learn more in Styler.
Builders
Kata is a builder-based theme: the parts of your site that WordPress normally takes from theme files are designed in Elementor instead.
- Header builder: desktop and mobile headers, sticky and transparent headers. See Header Builder.
- Footer builder for site-wide or page-specific footers. See Footer Builder.
- Blog builder for the blog page layout.
- Pro builders for single posts, archives, search results, author pages, the 404 page, portfolio and mega menus.
Customizer and Page Options
Global settings such as typography, colors, layout and container widths live in the WordPress Customizer. Each page and post also has its own options for the page title, breadcrumbs and sidebars, so you can change one page without affecting the rest of the site.
Light and Dark UI Mode
The Kata admin screens and Styler can be switched between a light and a dark interface. If you want visitors to switch your website to a dark version, Kata Pro includes a Dark Mode Switcher widget.
