The Advanced Reports Addon is a professional analytical tool designed to provide deep insights into your event performance. It transforms raw booking data into actionable intelligence through visual diagrams, detailed attendee lists, and comprehensive export options. By using this addon, you can track sales trends, compare attendee growth, and manage your financial records with precision.

Initial Setup

To begin generating reports, ensure your environment meets the necessary requirements and follow the installation steps below:

Requirements

• MEC Pro: This addon requires the booking features found exclusively in the Pro version of Modern Events Calendar. It will not function with MEC Lite.
• Installation: Both Modern Events Calendar and the Advanced Reports Addon must be installed and activated on your WordPress site.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Verify Activation: Ensure the addon is active under your WordPress Plugins menu.
2. Access the Menu: Once active, a new sub-menu titled Advanced Reports will appear in the main MEC sidebar.
3. Note on Menu Changes: Upon installation, the original Report menu in MEC is renamed to Promote to distinguish it from these advanced features.

Analyzing Your Data with Visual Insights

The dashboard features interactive charts that help you visualize your event’s success over time.

Date Range Selection

At the top of the dashboard, you can define a custom Date Range to analyze bookings within a specific time period.

You must manually select both the start date and the end date. 

All charts and statistics on the page update dynamically based on the selected date range.

Important: The report reflects booking dates, not necessarily the event occurrence dates.

Dual-Axis Line Chart (Attendees vs. Sales)

This chart allows you to compare two related variables over a specific time period to identify trends.

• Left Axis (Yellow): Represents the number of Attendees.
• Right Axis (Blue): Represents the total Sales volume.
• Filtering: Use the built-in filters to refine this data by Locations, Organizers, and Categories for a more granular analysis.

Sales Volume & Payment Insights

On the right side of the dashboard, you can view the distribution of your revenue across different payment methods.

• Pie Chart: Illustrates the overall percentage distribution of all payments.
• Horizontal Bar Charts: Displays the exact monetary amount and percentage for each individual payment gateway (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, Local).

Managing the Attendees List

The Attendee List provides a detailed breakdown of every individual who has registered for your events.

Navigation and Filtering

• Filtering Options: You can filter the entire list by Date, Event Name, Category, Location, and Organizer.

All filters (Category, Location, Organizer, Event Name, and Date Range) work simultaneously.

For example:
If you select a specific Category and a specific Location, the report will only display bookings that match both conditions.

If no data appears, review your active filters.

• Infinite Scrolling: For large events, more content is automatically loaded as you scroll down the page.

On websites with a very large number of bookings, generating reports for wide date ranges may take a few seconds to load.

For better performance, use narrower date filters when analyzing large datasets.

• Sorting: Adjust the order of the list by clicking the Up/Down icons next to each column header.

Column Functions & Statuses

Each entry in the list provides quick actions and critical status updates:

1. Edit Link: Redirects you to the booking menu to modify the reservation.
2. Invoice Link: A direct link to download the attendee’s invoice.
3. Frontend Link: A link to view the event as it appears to the public.
4. Reservation Status: Displays the current state of the booking, including Verified, Confirmed, Waiting, Cancelled, Rejected, and Pending.

Exporting Reports

The addon allows you to take your data offline for external accounting or physical check-in lists.

Export Formats

Click the Export icon to download your data in the following formats:

• CSV (Excel-compatible)
• XML
• JSON

Data Included in Exports

Exported files are highly detailed and include:

• Booking Details: Invoice number, transaction ID, and reservation status.
• Attendee Info: Full names, emails, and responses from fixed and per-attendee fields in the booking form.
• Event Info: Event name, ticket type (variations), price, date, location, and organizer.

Use Cases (When This Addon is Useful)

• Financial Auditing: Use the Sales Volume charts and Export features to prepare quarterly tax reports or reconcile payments from different gateways.
• Marketing Trend Analysis: Utilize the Dual-Axis Line Chart to see if specific marketing campaigns (Categories) resulted in a higher ratio of sales compared to attendee count.
• On-Site Logistics: Filter the Attendee List by a specific event and location, then export it to create a physical manifest for gate staff.

Situations This Addon May Not Be Ideal

• MEC Lite Users: This addon is strictly for MEC Pro users as it relies on the booking system.
• Real-Time Live Tracking: While it provides excellent historical data and trends, it is designed for reporting rather than live, second-by-second check-in monitoring (which may require the Ticket and Invoice App).
• Non-WordPress Environments: This is a dedicated WordPress plugin and cannot be used with external event platforms.

Troubleshooting for Beginners

• Missing “Advanced Reports” Menu: Ensure the addon is not only installed but also Activated. If it still doesn’t appear, verify that you are using the Pro version of Modern Events Calendar.
• Data Not Appearing: Check your filters at the top of the page. You may have a Date or Category filter active that is excluding recent bookings.
• Incomplete Attendee List: If you are looking for a specific person, remember to use the Infinite Scroll feature by scrolling to the bottom of the list to trigger the next set of data.
• Export File is Empty: Ensure you have selected the bookings you wish to export or have chosen the “Export All” option from the export menu.
