BuddyPress Plugins

BuddyPress helps you build any kind of community website using WordPress, with member profiles, activity streams, user groups, messaging, and more.

1. BuddyPress Community Stats

This plugin will display your BuddyPress community total counts for members, active members, status updates, group forum topics, posts (bbPress 1.0), forums, groups, and blogs. You can display this information in the footer or a widget and also use tags for them. A simple wp-admin dashboard widget is included (admin role only).

2. BuddyPress Follow

Follow members on your BuddyPress site with this nifty plugin. It works similar to friends component, however, the connection does not need to be accepted by the person being followed. Just like Twitter!

3. Invite Anyone

Invite Anyone has two features:

1) The ability to invite members to the site by email. The plugin creates a tab on each member’s profile page called “Send Invites”, which contains a form where users can invite outsiders to join the site. There is also a field for a custom message. Inviters can optionally select any number of their groups, and when the invitee accepts the invitation they automatically receive invitations to join those groups.

The email invitation part of the plugin is customizable by the BP administrator, via Dashboard > BuddyPress > Invite Anyone.

2) By default, BuddyPress only allows group admins to invite their friends to groups. In some communities, you might want members to be able to invite non-friends to groups as well. This plugin allows you to do so, by populating the invitation checklist with the entire membership of the site, rather than just friends list.

Because member lists can get very long and hard to navigate, this plugin adds an autosuggest search box in the Send Invites screen – the same one that appears on Compose Message screen – which allows inviters to navigate directly to the members they want to invite.

Invite Anyone features optional integration with CloudSponge http://cloudsponge.com, a premium address book service, that allows your users to invite their friends to the site in a way that’s easy and fun. Enable it in Dashboard > BuddyPress > Invite Anyone.

7. BuddyPress Default Data

The plugin will create lots of users, messages, friends connections, groups, topics, activity items, and profile data – useful for testing purposes.

All imported users will have avatars, generated by 8biticon.com and displayed by Gravatar.

Please use this plugin with caution and not on a live website! Again, USE FOR TESTING THEMES AND PLUGINS, NOT ON A STAGING SITE WITH LIVE DATA. The plugin should not mess with your live data, but it’s not guaranteed.

Clear BuddyPress button will delete all the data that was generated by this plugin: messages, groups, notifications, friends, forum posts, xprofil. The plugging won’t reimport data if clicked twice.

By the way, remember to turn off email notifications in profile page (friendship accepted and messages received) or you will spam yourself to death. Imported users have these settings already turned off.
